Meet Cat and Derrick of Nine Lives Sauce Co! They’ve spent most of their lives working around food; from cooking in quick-service kitchens, to serving tables in busy tourist towns, to doing maintenance at food manufacturing plants. Between the late-night shifts, they always made time for home-cooked meals, even if it meant cooking well past midnight.
During these late nights, they often joked that Cat “spiced to colour” rather than to taste, since her creations usually turned out beautifully red and dangerously spicy. They’ve never shied away from heat or from trying new flavour combinations, though she has learned to measure!
What started as a few late-night experiments turned into something much bigger: a way to share the warmth, creativity, and connection that food has always brought into their lives. Their sauces are made with that same spirit; a love of flavour, a touch of art, and a desire to give back to the community. Nine Lives is proud to have supported Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis, the Centre Wellington Food Bank, the Guelph Humane Society, and their hometown fair in Drayton.
