Fraberts is a proud supporter of 4-H, a youth leadership program with strong rural roots – however it has evolved over the years to become more than just for “farm kids”.  You don’t need to have a calf to be a 4-H member!

To explain what the four Hs are – here is the pledge:

I pledge my Head to clearer thinking,
My Heart to greater loyalty,
My Hands to larger service, and
My Health to better living,
For my club, my community, my country, and my world.

The 4-H motto is “Learn to Do by Doing”.

In other works, 4-H was doing experiential learning before experiential learning was cool!

The Ontario 4-H program began in nearby Waterloo over 100 years ago.  While it’s initial focus was on agriculture, today members can participate in clubs that range from culinary skills, to photography, marketing, fitness, science fair, environment, sewing, and so much more!  Beyond the club level, there are so many opportunities for 4-H members to develop their leadership skills from camps and conferences to exchanges and competitions.

Today is 4-H “Show your colour” day – a day to wear green, celebrate, and promote this amazing program.

Jackie was an active participant in the 4-H program in her youth and credits it for her career path which ultimately led to creating Fraberts with Chef Derek.  Both of their daughters are 4-H members.  Fraberts is proud to support our local 4-H program and give back to an organization that has given so much to our family 😊.
