Do you recognize this logo? Does the jingle “Good things grow-whoa-whoa…in Ontar-iii-ooo” ring a bell?
The Foodland Ontario program dates back to 1977, with a mission to promote the great taste, nutrition, and economic benefits of buying local. More than 90% of Ontarions recognize the Foodland Ontario logo – making it a highly successful tool to help consumers buy local.
While Ontario meat, eggs, dairy products, grains, mushrooms, root veggies, and greenhouse products are available year-round, the locally grown fresh produce season is currently ramping up. At Fraberts we currently have strawberries, asparagus, romaine lettuce, mixed greens, peas, radishes, new potatoes, zucchini, and cucumbers. Starting tomorrow we will also have locally grown cherries, raspberries, and beans. As the summer progresses there will be something new every week – it’s a great time of year to be a local produce nerd!
