Hippity Hop through Downtown Fergus

On Easter Saturday, April 19, bring the kids and their Easter baskets for a fun day throughout downtown Fergus.  From 11am till 2pm, participating businesses (like Fraberts) throughout downtown Fergus will be offering treats, crafts, gift draws, stories, and colouring.  Just look for the Easter coloured balloons in front of participating businesses and hop on in!  The Easter Bunny herself will be hopping around so be on the lookout for her – she will be available for photos from 11-12:30pm at the Fergus General Store.  For more information visit www.downtownfergus.com.

Whiskey and Wine…and great food!

On Saturday, April 12 from 7 till late, the Highland Rugby Club and Fraberts Fresh Food are proud to present an evening to experience whiskeys from around the world at the Highland Rugby Club’s Victoria Park Fieldhouse.

NEW this year!  We are very proud to present award-winning winemaker Sue-Ann Staff, of Staff Estate Winery, who will be leading a wine tasting.  Sue-Ann has won many awards, including Wine Maker of the Year (first female and youngest ever to win this award) and most recently “Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year”.

Local connoisseur, Norm Litchfield, will lead us through a sampling of whiskeys from around the world, from Canada to Scotland to New Zealand.

This is a great way to kick off the Tartan Day weekend in downtown Fergus.  Tickets are $40 which includes a delicious striploin beef dinner prepared by Fraberts, entertainment and a chance to win a door prize. 

Tickets are available at Fraberts – join us for a fun night of great food, fine whiskeys, terrific wines, and entertainment to celebrate Tartan Day!  Proceeds go to the completion of the Victoria Park Fieldhouse, changing rooms, and showers for local sports groups.

Tartan Day

Come celebrate Tartan Day in downtown Fergus on Sunday, April 13, from 11:30am till 5pm.  It all begins at Fraberts with the Kilted Kilometre at 11:30, presented by the Highland Rugby Club – all you need are running shoes and a kilt – we will provide the refreshments.  It’s only a kilometre – come on out!

Next up, the famous Kilted Krawl through our local pubs – wandering pipe bands, highland dancing, and live celtic music.   New this year we have heavy event demos and McKiddie Highland Games at the Fergus General Store, tea leaf readings at The Bookery, Tartan Tales and Bentley’s Scottish Cream Teas at the Fergus Grand Theatre, children’s story time at Roxanne’s Reflections,  and Scottish sweets and treats at Fergie’s, Scottish Corner Shop, and WR Designs .  Explore the Scottish heritage of Fergus by joining a historical walking tour at 2pm starting at the Fergus Library.  Visit www.downtownfergus.com for more information.

Spaghetti Supper

On Saturday, April 26, Fraberts is proudly preparing and serving a spaghetti dinner at the Highland Rugby Club from 4:00-8:00pm.  There will be a cash bar and a 50/50 raffle.   All proceeds go to the 2014 Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer.  Believe it!  We will conquer cancer in this lifetime.  Tickets ($12/adult, $8/child) available at Fraberts.

Grand Taste of the Culinary Arts

On Sunday, April 27, Fraberts is proud to participate in the 9th annual Grand Taste of the Culinary Arts, presented by the Centre Wellington Rotary Club from noon-3pm at the Grand River Raceway.  Sample terrific food from many local restaurants and caterers.  Tickets are available at Fraberts for $35 ($40 at the door), proceeds go to the Groves Memorial Community Hospital Foundation.

Easter Bunny Breakfast

This Saturday, April 5 is the annual Easter Bunny Breakfast at James McQueen Public School from 9:00-11:00am.  Come on out to visit the Easter Bunny and enjoy pancakes, silent auction, and penny tables to support the James McQueen School Council.  Cost is $3 per person or $10 per family at the door.
