Celebrate the Harvest at Fraberts

Fall is a great time to eat local – lots of delicious local bounty such as apples, everbearing strawberries and raspberries, sweet corn, squash, tomatoes and much, much more to choose from.

And our famous butternut squash soup is back on the menu!

Celebrate the harvest with us on Saturday, September 28 at our annual Harvest Festival.  From 11am – 4pm we will have live music, free samples, and some of our wonderful suppliers on hand to discuss their products.  We are just one stop of many in this year’s Rural Romp – visit www.guelphwellingtonlocalfood.ca/wellington-rural-romp for more information on the Romp.

Thanksgiving is Around the Corner…

Thanksgiving is the weekend of October 11-14.  Order your turkey or other holiday food by Friday, October 4 to avoid disappointment.  Every year we receive rave reviews about our fresh, local turkey.  Looking for an alternative to turkey?  Ask us about beef or pork roasts, fresh chicken, ham, tofu loaves – whatever you need, we can help.  Need help with the meal?  Chefs Derek and Jay can help with all details – just call us at 226-383-7374 to order today.

Don’t forget the pie!  Pumpkin, apple, red/black currant, blueberry, raspberry…order ahead to get your favourite!

Back to School

There’s nothing like packing school lunches…..sigh.  Let us help you feel good about school lunches!  Much of our deli meat (e.g. our famous roast beef and delicious roast turkey breast) is roasted right in the store – with no additives or nitrates.  It’s delicious and guilt free.  We also have fresh bread and UDI’s gluten-free bread for those sandwiches, as well as all the fixings.  Throw in local fruit that actually tastes good, some veggies with hummus or dip, local yogurt, and maybe a sweet treat and you are good to go.  We guarantee empty lunch boxes/bags at the end of the day!

Fraberts Wants YOU!

Do you love good food and want to work in a fun place that always smells great?  We’re looking for a hard-working and enthusiastic person to join the Fraberts team.  Must be self-starting, outgoing, customer service-focussed, and reliable.  Need to be available weekends, Sundays, and evenings.  Must be able to lift heavy boxes (think 60lb bags of sweet corn from Van Tols!) and climb ladders.  Must also have a valid drivers’ license (to forage for that great local food).  Need to be able to multi-task and a good sense of humour is definitely an asset!  If you enjoy the unique challenges of working in a small family-owned business, please visit our website at www.frabertsfreshfood.com, print off our questionnaire, staple it to your resume and bring it to the store by September 30, 2013.

Cooking Classes

…will start again following Thanksgiving – as always, our newsletter subscribers (you!) are the first to find out!

Congratulations!

…to our gals Rebecca Atkinson and Janine Mahoney who have both headed off to the University of Guelph this fall!  We miss them (and I know you do too).  I couldn’t be more proud to have these terrific young women join my own alma mater.  Have fun ladies!  (Oh, and study too.)
